Jewellery Design

If you desire to express your creative talent through the art of accessory design, composition and construction, this program is for you. Our Jewellery Design program is a comprehensive program that will provide you with the competencies needed to become a fashion jewellery designer. Students learn the art of metalworking and beading, one of the world’s most ancient art forms, producing a collection of jewellery.

Concepts in jewellery design are examined and translated into sketches
and illustrations using freehand drawing
techniques which are further enhanced
through Adobe Illustrator and
Photoshop.

Classes in presentation, display and
marketing prepare students for the job
market. Students create a Portfolio
illustrating their skills, talents and
achievements to enter the world of
art and design.


Program Objectives

  • Develop the ability to transform jewellery concepts into jewellery pieces.
  • Translate jewellery concepts into sketches and illustrations using freehand drawing techniques, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Develop skills to design, construct and illustrate fashion jewellery creations.
  • Acquire knowledge of the various materials available to create jewellery pieces and learn the many possibilities of jewellery designs.
  • Learn the history of jewellery design and how various social, economic and cultural factors influence the fashion jewellery trends.
  • Produce a collection of jewellery.
  • Acquire skills to produce, manage, market, promote and present jewellery designs.

 

Program Overview

  • Diploma Program consisting of 3 semesters, 15 weeks per semester, total of 45 weeks.
  • 20 hours per week, 300 hours per semester, 900 hours for full program.

Admission Requirements

  • 19 years of age or High School graduate.
  • Working knowledge of the English language.
  • Interview with Program Advisor.
