For over 5 years now, our high calibre fashion design student creations have been presented on the runway at Vancouver Fashion Week.

This year, our four presenting students, originally from Victoria, Ottawa, Colombia, and Sweden describe their collections as daring, balanced, unconventional, and “bontrast” (a mix of balance and contrast).

  • Jenna Cotton – Victoria, 29 years old
Jenna explores the idea of future meets past with her modern take on the hoop skirt.
  • Sonya Jang – Ottawa, 26 years old
Sonya uses oversized gold zippers, and the colours in Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss”. She also plays with concepts of masculine and feminine, challenging the idea of what “pretty” is.
  • Carolina Rojas – Colombia, 17 years old
Inspired by Colombia’s indigenous people, Carolina’s collection features squares of fabric made by the Kuna (indigenous people of Panama and Colombia).
  • Jesper Annerstedt – Sweden, 20 years old
Traditional religious garments and symbols inspire the collection of Jesper Annerstedt. The use of contrasting opposites such as life and death, hard and soft, black and white are what makes his designs unique.

Congratulations to all our students whom participated in Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014. Your hard work, determination and creativity have paid off! Keep up the good work.
