On Thursday, September 22, five of LaSalle College Vancouver’s Fashion Design students presented their collections with eight looks each on the runway of Vancouver Fashion Week (VFWSS17), marked the 14th consecutive season of LCV show at VFW.

This season, students were invited to explore from within themselves and their inner intuition. The five students selected to present this evening, who are from Canada, China and Ghana, sought their inspiration from various different elements and forms in daily life.

Congratulations to all five student designers: Hannah Vanderveen, Erica NanaAma Fouillard, Zi Xia “Zee”, Zory Sun, and Mona Zhao. The entire venture is a true collaboration. Fellow classmates, alumni, instructors and staff at LaSalle have been there for the student participants throughout the process to inspire, encourage and help them, from our sewing labs all the way to the backstage. Six students from our Professional Photography program also volunteered to capture different angles and aspects of the show.

The opportunity to show a collection is far more than the show itself. This high-caliber, real-world opportunity comes with real-world challenges for the student designers who earned a coveted spot.  It is the first time that they have been critiqued by industry experts outside the classroom, and have had to work with the vision of a show director.

We would also like to thank every single person involved in helping us make this show happen. A special thanks to Nimbus School of Recording Arts for composing those five original soundtracks to complement the students’ collections on the runway, Stuart Weitzman for the gorgeous shoe sponsorship, and Lizbel Agency for their professional and beautiful models. Of course, we couldn’t forget about the brain behind the show - Artist Director/acclaimed stylist Tracey Pincott, celebrity Makeup and Hair stylist Johnny Bellas and his team, and video/photographer Trevor Brady.
