In this course, students will participate in a broad survey of world civilization. The course will begin with the civilizations that developed in the ancient near east, will proceed on to ancient Greek & Roman civilization and will end with an examination of European civilization and the interactions that this group of civilizations had with each other and the rest of the world. In addition to studying specific historical events there will be a strong emphasis upon the ideas, themes and ideological movements that helped to drive & shape these historical events. Learning Management System (LMS) is Moodle. This course utilizes an asynchronous mode of learning (ie other than forums, there is no set meeting time for the class. Students may access & complete course material at their own convenience).
