Employment/Professional Information
Company Name: Life Fitness Western Canada
Location: Vancouver
Job Title: Illustrator
Primary Responsibilities: Create the company website in the Spanish and English language. Develop logos through hand-drawing and painting techniques for digital media advertisements and other commercial purposes. Create and update the company's blog and newspaper designs specs. Refine designs with illustration software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Describe a Typical Work Day:

First thing I do in the morning is I check my calendar and emails. I have a social media calendar where I schedule all the posts in our different social media platforms. Depending on my schedule, I either take pictures of all our new fitness equipment arrivals or I start working on developing and/or creating content for our platforms. I work with Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator daily.

What accomplishment(s) are you most proud of?

I built all the company social media platforms including our websites (in English and Spanish) from scratch. Thanks to this, I’ve increased the company’s sales in a 50%.

What do you enjoy the most about your career?

In marketing and content creation there is a huge amount of opportunity to help companies grow in various aspects, not only in sales. Nowadays, one of the most important assets is building loyal and meaningful relationships with your customers. What I keep in mind when creating a campaign is to set my niche, to engage and always follow up with them in order to achieve the best results.

What are your creative inspirations or influences? Who are your heroes?

My number 1 inspiration is my mom. I honestly don’t know how she does, she runs her own company, goes to the gym every day, she spends time with my dad, goes to church, have a social life and she cooks.

How did your education at LaSalle College Vancouver help prepare you for your career?

LaSalle College Vancouver gave me the knowledge and preparation for the complexity of Marketing, the first course was mainly focused in Fashion, the other courses were more general which helped me to get a wide understanding of this industry.

What advice do you have for people beginning their careers in your profession?

You got to be very creative and ambitious in order to be distinctive because there is a lot of competition. Look beyond and find what things you can contribute in and what makes you different. Brands are interested in your personality and what unique skills you can provide.
