SHAININ HUDDA

With over 20 years in the fashion industry and 15 years of experience teaching, Shainin brings extensive experience and a balanced perspective to the fashion design program at LaSalle College Vancouver.

She provides a global outlook to students through research and designing annual capsule collections/custom work of one of a kind South Asian silk saris using various textile and surface design techniques in collaboration with craftspeople in India as well as attending international fashion industry events annually such as New York Fashion Week, Lakme Fashion Week Mumbai and Première Vision Paris in order to stay current on trends in design themes and the latest textiles.

For more than a decade, Shainin was the principal designer and owner of Souldaisy, a women’s ready-to-wear collection designed for a young contemporary customer with a focus on natural bers and innovative detailing. Early on, Shainin was nominated for Most Promising Newcomer by Apparel BC, and the modern and stylish Vancouver clothing label has established itself in a quickly expanding and pro table niche market of independent Canadian women’s clothing designers.

Shainin completed a master’s degree in Cross-Disciplinary Art and Design at the University of New South Wales in Australia. For her thesis project, she worked with students and faculty to create a fashion event that featured cross-disciplinary projects between the Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing, Film and Culinary departments. The event fostered critical thinking, acquisition of marketing and entrepreneurial skills, and a multidimensional learning experience across discipline.

She also has a Degree in Business Administration, specialization in Marketing, from SFU; a diploma in Fashion Design and Clothing Technology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University; and a certi cate in Couture Fashion Draping from Paris American Academy. In 2017 and 2018, Shainin was nominated for an Industry Originator Award in the teaching category by Vancouver Fashion Week.
