Our students visit 5 Visual Effects and Animation studios in Vancouver

September 8, 2017

Our students from LaSalle College Vancouver (LCV)’s Animation, 3D Modeling and Visual Effects programs had a chance to visit and tour 5 large Visual Effects and Animation studios this summer as they got a feel for the industry and the amazing opportunities here in Vancouver.

Developing and maintaining industry connections has been fundamental for the synergetic relationship between LCV's curriculum relevance and realistic expectations of industry conditions and graduate employment rates. This summer, LaSalle College Vancouver's Career Services team, paired up with Media Arts senior instructors, helped align some of these expectations by taking students directly to studio environments.

It has been a busy summer, Josie Anderson – Career Services – explains. "In a very short period of time students have visited Digital Domain, Double Negative, MPC, DHX and Rainmaker. These studios are big supporters of LCV programs, constantly attending the school's portfolio shows and hiring our graduates on a regular basis. As LCV alumni presence increases overtime in the industry, we should expect a snowball effect with program advisory participation, guest speakers and more".
