March 20, 2020: New Message from the Campus President

March 20, 2020

LCV Community,

Thank you for your patience, understanding and compassion in this unprecedented time.

As our situation progresses, we have committed to communicating with you in a regular and timely manner. Our decisions are made with your health and safety in mind and we are taking direction from our Federal and Provincial Health and Political Leaders. One of the most consistent messages is social distancing. Please always keep 2 meters between you and others.

Anyone who is exhibiting symptoms, have been in contact with someone who is ill, or has travelled internationally and not quarantined without symptoms for 14 days are not permitted in our building.

Learning Environment: Our Academic Team has been working diligently for online learning in the Spring Term. We will be able to offer most of our courses online and we will do our best to ensure all students can continue with their studies in a timely fashion. Students will be hearing from their directors/advisors in the coming weeks.

Working Offsite: We are encouraging most staff to work from home and no staff or students are required to come to the building if they do not feel safe to do so.

Personal belongings: If you have personal belongings in the building, we ask you to pick them up (or make arrangements to secure them) before Friday, March 27 (5PM).

Building update:
Saturday, March 21: The building will only be open 7AM- 5PM daily and all people are asked to enter through the front doors and wash their hands upon entry (no exceptions). While in the building, please maintain no less than 2 meters distance between you and other people.

Tuesday, March 24: All staff are asked to work offsite with the exception of a few members of our team.

Friday, March 27 at 5PM: From this period and until further notice, the building will be locked down and only a few people will have access to the building.

Access to the Building after March 27: We will allow access to the building by appointment only as permitted by provincial authorities. If you need to access the building as a student or staff member, please email building@lasallecollegevancouver.com

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are in this together and we will have to live with each other after this is over, so please be kind to each other while we adapt to this new normal.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jason Dewling, President
